*5th*VFAT 2009 Preliminary Registration Thread

In the "VFAT 2009 Preliminary Registration Thread" teams and solo pilots can register for participation at VFAT. For discussions and questions about VFAT, please visit the General Discussion part of the Official VFAT Forums.

VFAT 2009 dates:
VFAT Rehearsal - November 27/28/29
Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams -  December 04/05/06

VFAT 2009 Participation Requirements
The participating teams and solo pilots must deliver a track of their airshow sequence at the 1st of November. This to make it possible for the VFAT Camera-Crew to study the display sequences. Next to the airshow training track; music, mod/skin and mission must also be included. There will be a VFAT-FTP available for uploads soon.

To participate at VFAT 2009 "VFAT ACE-Standards 2009" have been developed by the VFAT Staff. The "VFAT ACE-Standards 2009" are largely based on real airshow standards and are to be used as guidelines for participants in this year's VFAT.

All participants will also be "screened" by the VFAT Staff to decide the teams/solo live show readiness. In case the participant is decided as not ready, the participant will receive a notification.

- The VFAT 2009 Preliminary Registration Thread will be closed by the 27th of September.

- This year, we will introduce IL-2 and FSX teams to VFAT (by invitation).

Just how did 3 guys from Europe get to represent the Worlds only P-51 formation aerobatics team in the flight sim community?

The Virtual Horsemen were formed in January 2009 by team lead Rob Brindley with the aim of producing a video but the decision was soon taken to keep the team together and display at virtual air shows throughout the community. The team flew their first show at Virtual Flying Legends 2009, one of the biggest Il-2 airshows ever hosted, which was also live streamed on the net. The Virtual Horsemen now look forward to fly more live shows and show off the beauty of their three P-51 Mustangs.

The Virtual F-16 Solo Display team is a virtual air solo demonstration team in the skies of the flight simulator ‘Lock On Flaming Cliffs.
The team’s goal is to virtually replicate the real F-16 Solo Display Team of the Royal Netherlands Air Force as good as possible.
This will be realized through the continuous improvement of maneuvers by training on a high level.
The Virtual F-16 Demo Team demonstrates the power, speed and agility of the F-16 Fighting Falcon MLU (Mid Life Update) and the skill of the pilot.
Therefore, the show will include maneuvers that could be used during every operational mission of the F-16.
The special thing about the show is that the maneuvers will follow each other in a rapid pace and will fluently transfer into each other.
During the display, the F-16 will be equipped with two ‘smoke generators’ to accentuate the flight path.
Also, the show has to be flown in exactly the right flight pattern and in a short period of time

The purpose of VEAO is to simulate real world air-to-air and air-to-ground conflicts using the LockOn Flaming Cliffs flight simulation software.
VEAO consists of a virtual Air Combat Training School and a virtual Air Combat Wing utilising virtual sqaudrons from around Europe.

Chris Ellis [Ells] is the founder of VEAO and ex Team Leader for the Virtual Red Arrows.
