VFAT 2014 PRELIMINARY REGISTRATION THREAD

(The VFAT 2014 Preliminary Registration Thread will be closed September 21st)

In this thread, teams and solo pilots can sign up for participation at VFAT. The 10th Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams will take place the November 21st-23rd, 2014 (Note this is a different weekend than normal!).

VFAT 2014 Participation Requirements
From the time of registration until October 12th, participants signed up for VFAT will go through the "Airshow Quality Control".  Airshow Quality Control is based on two elements. First, we have the VFAT ACE-Standards which is basically a guide for participants with a set of rules. Second, we have the "Entertainment Level" of the show. Both the ACE-Standards and the Entertainment Level will be judged by the VFAT Staff to decide which participants pass the Airshow Quality Control.

There are three ways to go through the Airshow Quality Control:
1: A live show on a private streaming channel.
2: A stream replay from a previous demonstration at VFAT or other event. (Preferred)
3: A track, though this will reduce the chance of an approval (we will only be able make a judgement by the ACE Standards, not the Entertainment level as we can not judge camera work/music/comms etc.).

VFAT 2014 Registration Form
To signup for VFAT, please post the following information:
(By signing up for VFAT, the participant accepts the fact the display can be rejected by the VFAT Staff, either by not passing the Airshow Quality Control or by not living up to any other requirement (like deadline dates) set by the VFAT Staff.)

9. Country and Timezone: England, GMT

10. Information about the team:

The Virtual Horsemen represent the worlds only P-51 Mustang formation aerobatic team: The Bremont Horsemen Aerobatic Team.  The team was founded in late 2008 after 3 pilots, Rob “Rock” Brindley, Francessco “Yeager” Brunetti & Julian “SkyHawk” Tirazona got together for a video project, with the aim of replicating their real life counterparts as accurately as possible.  However, once training had begun, they soon realised that the team had more potential than just a simple video & officially announced themselves as a team in early 2009. Soon after, the team were officially supported by the real team themselves. This began what was to become an excellent relationship between the real and virtual worlds, culminating with meetings with the real team at several events from 2009 to the present.

The Virtual Horsemen flew their first public show show in August 2009 and have gone on to perform live at prestigious events such as the Low Land Tiger Meet (2010) & the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams (2009 & 2012), as well as several other, smaller events in the IL-2 Sturmovick series. In early 2012, the team moved from Il-2 to the DCS: P-51 Simulator. DCS offered the team un-paralleled realism and enabled a far greater accuracy to be obtained by the pilots.

The team currently consists of 3 active pilots, all based in the United Kingdom.

  • Flight Lead: Rob 'Rock' Brindley
  • Right Wing: Pete 'Pman' Collins
  • Left Wing: James 'Kestrel' Read

Information about the team

The Virtual Apache Demo Team started it’s life in 2011 with the creation of the Apache mod created by the VAG members themselves. The skin of the Apache (also called the ‘’Hawk’’) was created by our experienced skinner and pilot Wijndel ‘’Wine69’’ Albertsma. With Lars ‘’Frazer’’ Hofman as the instructor and Jeroen ’’Goose’’ Verhulst as display pilot the team has a firm base at flying the demo. The demo is based on the real life RNLAF Apache demo demonstrated by Maj. Roland ‘’Wally’’ Blankenspoor and Cpt Harm “Kaas” Cazemier. The demo takes about 10 minutes and consists of various maneuvers like the loop and the split-s.
The  Virtual Apache demo team hopes to thrill the virtual worlds with it’s daring and stunning demo.

9. Country and Timezone: (GMT+/-) GMT+1

10. Information about the team:

The VAG “Flanker C Demo” was founded in 2011 prior to the current “Flanker B Demo”.

By the fact that his job does not allow him to practice every week on a fixed day “Wine” started a solo display in his desire to become a virtual display pilot himself.
He was supported by the whole Virtual Aerobatic Group and coached by “Sawamura” to get ready for VFAT 2011.  With a lot of practice hours “Wine” made it through the AQC ( Airshow Quality Control ) and …
At VFAT 2011, “Wine” participated successfully with the Su-30 ( Flanker C ).
At VFAT 2012, “Wine” took the Belgian F16 Solo Display to the virtual sky instead of the Sukhoi.
At VFAT 2013, “Wine” participated successfully with the Su-30 with an exclusive new Flanker C (Su30M2 model) which didn’t carry any wing pylons for ordnance.

In 2014, “Wine” decided to make the switch from LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2 towards Flaming Cliffs 3 in DCS-World,
and instead of the two seater Su-30 ( Flanker C ) use the single seat Su-27 ( Flanker B ) model by Eagle Dynamics, and so, the name of the display team changed with it to Flanker B Demo

( Due to the lag of experience with the new Pro-Flight-Model, I'm forced to leave the "cobra" and other "out of the envelope" manoeuvres out of the VFAT display.   Cry )

The 2014 VFAT display:

←1.   Split-S with smoke
 ∞2.   Horizontal S
→3.   Looping
←4.   Slow Roll
→5.   Inverted to Inverted Pass
←6.   Cloverleaf + 270 wide left turn > Flare circles towards crowd
→7.   High Flares
←8.   High Flares
→9.   Fast pass
←10. High climb >Flare circles
ۡ 11.   Low 360 with flares
→12. Top side show pass.
ꜛ13.  Near Vertical Corkscrew with smoke and flares
ꜜ14.  Wide spiral decent with smoke
←15. Landing
.

The aircraft will carry a special paintscheme on it’s tail in order to honor VFAT’s 10th ( X ) Anniversary !
