Selection of Demonstrations

Seeing the huge amount of registrations we've received this year, 48 compared to 30 last year, the VFAT Staff will be forced to make a number of selections as to which of the demonstrations will be shown at this year's Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams.

This can be seen as both good and bad news.

The bad news is that the original ideology of VFAT changes. We always wanted to be open for all participants, both students and experts, to be able to fly at VFAT as it is a celebration (festival) of our great hobby and not a competition. Fact is that the virtual formation aerobatics community is growing and VFAT is only one weekend each year, so we have a limited capacity for showing demonstrations. This is forcing us to change our ideology and make selections of which demonstrations will be accepted.
The good news is that we will be able to give our spectators a more spectacular airshow, with an increasing level of skill shown every year. This will keep VFAT interesting for our audiences and make more people come back each year to see more exciting and professional demonstrations.

So, how will the VFAT Staff make these selections?

  • First we will see how many participants we will be able to handle this year (this will be between 30 and 35).
  • Secondly we will see if the demonstrations are flown according the VFAT ACE-Standards.
  • Thirdly we will look at the general skill level of the pilots, and the airshow sequence.
  • Fourthly we will compare very similar airshows with each other.
  • And as lastly we will look at how many registrations each participant has entered for VFAT 2009.
As you can see we will try to give the spectors an airshow with enough variation at a high level.

Paticipant: "WOW, this scares me off"

The last thing we want is to discourage people from signing up! We understand very well that the track delivered to the VFAT Staff will be a training track and we will only use it to estimate what the end results will be during VFAT. Please do not hesitate to upload your training tracks in time (1st of November), and remember, it doesn't need to be perfect!
And in case you're rejected, we want to encourage you to keep on training and kick butt next year!

VFAT FTP ACCOUNT

You should have received your ftp account by email using the following subject: "VFAT FTP info".

This will allow you to send your mission, track, music, and skin.

You could receive more than one email. This is because you have registered different displays, like: one or more solo and or team display
Please refer to the shortcut names to check the correct FTP account for each display.

Do not put all files in one FTP account but use all the provided accounts to put the correct files in.

If you have any problem or question please let us know here

Track Delivery

The date for the final track delivery has been delayed to next sunday, the 8th of November.

The reason for this is to give participants the chance to fly their show regarding the new VFAT ACE-Standards.
All participants will receive an extra email named "VFAT Track Delivery: team name" with advices of what to change (if any needed) as soon as possible.

Note that this email is not an approval or denial for participation but just to make sure your show is regarding the VFAT ACE-Standards.

For questions and/or comments, click here.

VFAT Camera men applications

The VFAT Organizers do, like the word says, the organization for VFAT but we do not have the manpower to stream ALL the teams during the event. So, we want to bring the thread VFAT Camera men applications under attention again.

This post was made on the 25th of October and guess what, not one application came in! Huh?

We understand that everyone is eager to fly on VFAT but this can not be done without people actually streaming your show!

Please everyone, ask around in the community and try to find camera men and woman!

Here are the minimum requirements:
- Lockon Flaming Cliffs and/or DCS Blackshark
- Proc: Core 2 Duo T9400 (2x 2.53GHz)
- RAM: 2 Gb
- Video: Geforce 8800 GTX
- Upload speed: 600kbps (75KB/s or 0.58MB/s)
Do Speedtest here

Oh and remember, being camera man may give you some stress but you actually have a VIP seat, seeing all IN-GAME at high resolution! Wink

Applications can be posted here.

Uploads to VFAT FTP server.

In case you want to update mods/music/mission or any other files required for your display, you can do that until wednesday 00:00 GMT.

This will be the last time VFAT camera men will check the FTP for updates.
