Like every year, VFAT 2008 is going to be bigger and more exciting than previous years. This year again we will have the opportunity to TV stream the VFAT LIVE by Interoute.

Ofcourse we will need to let the world know about VFAT and YOU can help the VFAT Staff with that!

How can you help?
The simmers/aviation world is big, there are many forums out there and almost impossible to find them all.
That is why the VFAT Staff asks you to:
- Add links to this post of any website/forum which community may be interested in the VFAT event.
- Tell everyone about this event. Many of us have special contacts in the aviation world.

IMPORTANT
DO NOT POST ANY INFORMATION ABOUT VFAT YOURSELF, LEAVE THAT TO THE VFAT STAFF. WE WANT OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE THE VFAT AND THE ANNOUNCEMENTS MADE WILL MOST LIKELY NEED UPDATES DURING THE EVENT. WE CAN ONLY GIVE THIS SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC IF WE ARE THE AUTHORS OF THESE THREADS.

Thank you!

VFAT Staff

I'd say feel free to point them back here and share your own excitement about VFAT, but leave the "information" to be posted by VFAT Staff (as long as we know where to post).

Also, we (Whack, myself and even Rhino I believe) would like to help marketing VFAT in the real world aerobatic community this year. Not just through forums, but actually talking to some of the people running http://www.AirShowBuzz.com (ICAS guys and gals such as Ed Shipley, Rob Reider etc.). They may not bite, but it could also be a great thing if they are onboard and help highlight the event! Many of these guys are already friends from the real world air show circuit and I've personally met many of them. We could reach many of the real world pilots and fans to come see parts of what we do... how cool wouldn't that be!!!

It's worth a shot trying to market VFAT to non-computer aviators (i.e. non-dorks) and show them we are serious about what we (and they) do! The future has great potential...

Once we have the dates set, registration ongoing and some of the initial streaming decisions made, we should attack the marketing hard. @Manu, what is the limit # connections the interoute server can handle? It would be cool to have several thousand spectators watch, many from outside the LO community who are real world air show fans and pilots! Is too many spectators a problem at some point?

We are working on the poster right now Diko.

Is there any way the VFAT Staff can read the articles before it is released?
Next to that, don't you guys need info from the VFAT Staff? Maybe an interview?

There was an article earlier this year (Feb) written by our #9 Cobra in Computer Piot Magazine specifically about VFAT. Even though it covered 2007, I'm sure it reached some people who had never heard of it through print.

Quote
VFAT 2007- Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams
One of the lesser known features of Lock-On is the quality of its netcode. Netcode is the application code that handles how data and instructions are passed from computer to computer during a multiplayer game. Not long after its release, small groups of flight sim enthusiasts began experimenting with formation aerobatics using the superior netcode of Lock-On. This has resulted in virtual aerobatic teams, and events like VFAT!

Hi, Frazer! I wrote this article in the FS Magazin and I mentioned the VFAT 2008 only with a few words there. But there will be a detailed announcement in the magazine in a section where special events belonging to real and virtual aviation are mentioned regularly.

And yes, that's a great idea to print an interview with responsibles of the VFAT in one of the next issues of that magazine. I will write four articles in total. So, I think it would be fine to have the interview right after VFAT has taken place. Let's stay in contact about that!

CU at the VFAT - we are training hard to get "show ready" in time...

[Your question about the possibility to read the article before official release of the issue: I have to check it first with the editor-in-chief of the magazine. I will inform you asap!]

Thanks for clearing things up Hornet.
If you need any info about VFAT just pm one of the members of the VFAT Staff.
It will be good to give clear information about the VFAT TV streaming and websites in the latest release, close before VFAT.
Good luck with getting ready for VFAT!  ;)

Frazer,

can you already tell me the live-streaming-link? If it shall be within the announcement in the October issue of FS Magazin it's editor-in-chief has to know it by Monday, September 15.

It is not sure we will host the live streaming on the same page as last year. We will probably make a new website for the streaming.
It might be best to mention this VFAT forum. All information about VFAT2008 will be posted here.
Thanks

ok, Frazer. The next issue of the FS Magazin will be published on December, 4th. So, it won't be any problem to make an update to the announcement in which we can post the live streaming address.  Grin

You are more than welcome to support the VFAT Publicity BUZZ by adding your links to the list!

What about on myspace? Should we post threads in aviation related groups saying to check it out?

I'm not on myspace myself.
If you think we could reach a big audience with that it would be great  Smiley
Maybe you can post a couple of links to the myspace groups you are thinking about?
thanks!
